On-Going Technical Maintenance

On-going maintenance of the Integral Accounting Enterprise package is not much different than any other Accounting / ERP System. You should be performing daily backups, and the backups should be done to a removable media device that is taken off-line as soon as it completes.

Since the Integral Accounting Enterprise system uses the popular databases SQL Server or MySQL, you have some special options that help increase uptime, you can have the database back-end automatically replicate to an  off-site or a secondary server, or if running SQL Server in conjunction with one of the newer Windows operating systems you can even build a fall-over cluster.

The most important issue that you need to make sure you are aware of is the audit trail. The Integral Accounting Enterprise system automatically audits each change to each record in the system as it happens and logs these changes to the Audit Trail tables.

These Audit Trail tables get very large very fast, so you will need to have a plan in place to deal with these records!

If you do not use or need the audit trail, then we recommend that you simply purge these tables on either a weekly or a monthly basis depending on your transaction volume. If you need to keep all of your audit trail records, then we recommend that you dump the audit trail tables to an delimited text or an xml file on a monthly basis and save them to an optical or cartridge drive, so that they can be quickly found and reloaded into an RDBMS quickly if needed.

If you need any more information about the audit trail or any more guidance regarding it's use and operation, please feel free to contact us at support@stfb.com
